Stratos Jet Charters, Inc. Arranges Charter Flights Around Martha's Vineyard TFR

For travelers whose end of summer plans include Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, Stratos Jet Charters can help them navigate the flight restrictions imposed due to President Obama's 10-day getaway.

2010-08-21
WINTER PARK, FL, August 21, 2010 (Press-News.org) Stratos Jet Charters, Inc., a worldwide air charter agency, announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a temporary flight restriction that will restrict jet charter flights in and out of the Martha's Vineyard airport (KMVY) from August 19 to August 29, 2010.

The temporary flight restriction (TFR), which is in effect until next Sunday, was issued to ensure the safety of our President and First Family while they vacation in Martha's Vineyard. According to the FAA, these restrictions were designed to provide a safe and secure environment for the President and his cabinet, while still ensuring fair and equitable access to all airspace users, to the greatest extent possible.

Under the temporary flight restriction, the only aircraft that will be allowed to operate in a 10 nautical mile radius of Martha's Vineyard will be law enforcement aircraft, Secret Service and Office of the President aircraft, commercial airliners and cargo carriers. The TFR will start from the surface of the airport's VOR or navigational station and continue to 18,000 feet above sea level.

There will be a few exceptions to the flight restriction. Private jets will be permitted to depart and land at Martha's Vineyard airport if pilots request a waiver from the FAA 72 hours in advance of their flight. However, air charter flights will be required to undergo TSA screening at one of three gateway airports before landing at Martha's Vineyard airport.

In addition to restricting jet charter flights to and from Martha's Vineyard, the TFR will impose certain restrictions on air charter flights operating in a 30 nautical mile radius of the airport. Charter flights will be required to be on either an IFR or VFR flight plan and be in constant communication with air traffic control at all times. Additionally, aircraft operations will only be restricted to aircraft arriving or departing airports in the Martha's Vineyard area.

In response to the TFR, Stratos Jet Charters will assist jet charter travelers with arranging charter flights to alternate airports outside the restricted airspace. With as little as four hours notice, Stratos Jets agents can arrange jet charter flights to Taunton Municipal Airport (KTAN), Chatman Municipal Airport (KCQX) or other airport and provide transportation to Martha's Vineyard.

According to Joel Thomas, president of Stratos Jet Charters, air charter consumers can avoid the inconvenient delays of the restricted airspace simply by chartering a private jet to alternate airports. He says that his expert air charter agents can add vale to flights to Martha's Vineyard by ensuring that charter flights are conducted on the safest aircraft with the most experienced crew.
