DENVER, CO, November 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) Local non-profit There With Care recently announced the launch of a new partnership with Eric Cares, a funeral assistance fund dedicated to providing monetary and directional aide to Colorado Metro area families whose child loses his or her battle with critical illness.
Eric Cares is a dedicated fund residing within There With Care's 501(c)3 non-profit. The fund works with local funeral homes to offer services at reduced cost and also provides financial assistance for those families who need help to defray funeral expenses after the loss of a child.
"At There With Care, we are humbled to be a small part of helping families facing critical illness," said Paula DuPre' Pesmen, There With Care founder and executive director. "Sadly, sometimes the unimaginable happens and a family loses their child. In that situation, we will be able to help the family memorialize their child when they have limited means."
Currently, there are several non-profits that focus on medical bill assistance, supplemental income, housing for families and fund research, but none that provides funeral and memorial support.
"We interviewed several Denver social workers and researched local assistance programs and found that there is little or no financial assistance for families who have lost a child," said Melody Jamali, the founder and director of Eric Cares. "We don't just provide financial assistance. Eric Cares has also negotiated discounts with local funeral homes and provides general guidance in planning the memorial."
Eric Cares is named after Mike and Melody Jamali's son who passed away. The couple founded Une Belle Vie Memorial Urns in 2010 in his memory and then later established the funeral assistance fund to help local families celebrate and memorialize the lives of their child.
