FLATONIA, TX, October 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) Flatonia's premier event, Czhilispiel, will continue the good times this year at the 38th Annual Czhilispiel Festival, set for the weekend of October 22, 23, and 24 in Downtown Flatonia. The festival will host the always popular CASI sanctioned "czhili" cook-off, the barbecue and jackpot margarita contests, and largest tented biergarten in Texas.

The fun doesn't stop with the delicious food and cold drinks. Czhilispiel 38 will offer the classic favorites like the carnival, egg toss, and for the brave, the jalepeno eating contest. New to Czhilispiel this year are the horseshoe tournament and royal white tiger exhibit. The biergarten will also house the main stage for this year's phenomenal concert series. Czhilispiel's Friday opening night will feature the Logan Tucker Band and local favorite, Broke 60.

Saturday kicks off with the Czhilispiel 5k and Lion's Club Pie Auction, and along with all the cooking, tasting and judging for those coveted titles, there will be dancing in the tent starting with polka by the Red Ravens, then Texas Country from Chris Brade and Mark McKinney. The evening will be capped off perfectly with this year's headliner, Stoney Larue, playing the main stage until 1am.

Czhilispiel Sunday will feature the annual Czhilispiel Grand Parade, followed by live music from the Scott Taylor Band, and Johnny Dee & the Rocket 88s. Don't forget to stop by and check out the Car and Truck Show too.

Presale carnival wristbands can be purchased from the Flatonia Chamber by stopping by or calling 361-865-3920. Cook-off and vendor applications are also still being accepted. Applications can be found on the Flatonia Chamber's website at http://www.flatoniachamber.com, or blog at czhilispiel.blogspot.com.
