Carl Velleno Appointed Director of Spa, Recreation and Guest Services at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina has announced the appointment of Carl Velleno as the new director of spa, recreation and guest services. In his new position, Velleno will oversee all operations at the property's eco-friendly and award-winning Blue Marble Spa, in addition to the concierge staff and recreation department.

"Carl has a long history of spa and recreation experience at multiple Hyatt hotels," said Mohsen Khaleghi, general manager at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina. "His 11 years of practice along with his passion for wellness and overall health made him the perfect candidate for this position. He did an amazing job with the opening of the StayFit Athletic Club in Minneapolis and we are excited to see what he will bring to the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay."

Most recently, Velleno served as the Health Club and Spa Director at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis where he directed the six month, $1.5 million renovation of the StayFit Athletic Club. The first of its kind, the 43,000 square-foot facility features cardio equipment, spa treatment rooms, personal training and more.

Velleno was responsible for the creation of the membership program, massage services, personal training and group fitness classes, including Pilates, yoga and spin. In addition, Velleno created StayFit's marketing materials, maintained the website and conducted live television interviews to promote the club's grand opening.

Previously, Velleno worked as the spa director and recreation manager at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, where he opened the 20,000 square foot, 16-room Stillwater Spa and implemented a spa food menu and a retail store that nearly tripled the operation's annual revenue in less than three years. In addition, he recruited new talent for the spa, trained new employees, created the spa menu and managed more than 60 staff members.

Velleno's resume also includes positions such as the recreation manager at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe and guest services attendant at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento.

Velleno graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science.
