Why Uni Students Need to Start Job Hunting Before They Graduate

Students should be actively planning their career and building contacts while at uni in order to get a job when they finish: Great advice, but how? Here's how to use social media to get a job: expert advice for students.

2012-11-22
HARROGATE, ENGLAND, November 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Many final year students at university will be spending the Christmas "holiday" (that we all look forward to) busily revising, writing assignments and getting stuck into their dissertation. But how many will also be setting aside time to devote to career skills, networking and researching or contacting graduate employers?

As this snapshot study by The Independent shows, despite getting top marks in a degree course from a top university, many students still struggle to get a job after graduating. According to recent arts graduate, Eleanor Snare, who highlights the issue on her Magic Square Foundation blog, students should be spending as much time as possible during their course on building contacts and networks outside of university, and getting their foot in the door of their chosen career before they graduate.

Using social media to develop relationships with employers, build up networks, and show off a student's skills can be much more effective than traditional job hunting techniques, such as door-to-door canvassing, posting out CVs, travelling to job fairs and cold calling employers, which can be time consuming, costly, and inefficient. Social media breaks down some of these perceived barriers by enabling any student with an internet connection to access detailed information about employers, and make personal connections with them.

Victoria Tomlinson, CEO at Northern Lights PR & Marketing, has worked with a number of FE and HE colleges and universities to help both students and staff harness the power of social media. She has recently published a new e-book to help graduates and job seekers to get a job using social media. From Student to Salary with Social Media, contains over 100 practical tips on how to get a job, with advice on all the main social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The e-book costs just 99p and is available to online to download from the Northern Lights PR website: Click here to download the e-book.

Liposuction is a versatile body-contouring procedure that can be used in many different body areas, including the face. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of fat deposits in your face, facial liposuction may be right for you. Like liposuction for the body, facial liposuction uses a special instrument to suction away fat. Depending on your surgeon's technology and techniques, the fat may be prepared for removal with laser or ultrasound energy. After ...

Bad Breath: Causes and Solutions

2012-11-22
Some causes of bad breath are obvious: foods and beverages that have strong odors are absorbed into your bloodstream and eventually carried to your lungs. This means that the onion you had for lunch or the coffee you had at breakfast will continue to come out in your breath until it has left your system. Likewise with smoking, although smoking also causes dry mouth, another factor in bad breath, making it twice as likely to produce an offensive odor. Other causes of bad breath may include general oral hygiene issues such as: - Improper brushing and flossing - Gum ...

2012-11-22
California residents injured in an accident know that dealing with insurance companies is often complicated. Certain things can be done to help the process run smoothly.
