The festival features dance workshops during the day, evening dance showcases and evening dance parties all night long. The Reno Winter Bachata Festival is friendly to beginner dancers and challenging to advance dancers. Everyone is welcome to join the fun.

BB of the Latin DanceFest states, "The goal of The Reno Winter Bachata Festival is to give people the opportunity to learn about the culture of the Dominican Republic through Bachata music and dance."
Bachata is a Latin genre of music from the Dominican Republic. It has elements of other Latin music genres and styles, of which Bolero is the strongest influence. The first Bachata artists emerged from the rural areas of the Dominican Republic in the 1950's. The Bachata dance evolved from this type of music. Bachata songs are often about country living and love, both passionate romance and hurtful heartbreaks.
The Grand Expo Hall, inside the Silver Legacy Resort Casino, is the site of the Reno Winter Bachata Festival, January 2-6, 2013. The Latin DanceFest uses close to 30,000 square feet of ballroom space and has over 10,000 square feet of dance floor.
