ArcLight Cinemas Bring A Taste Of Hollywood To La Jolla, California With Christie Solaria Series Digital Cinema Projectors

Preferred Christie Partner ACS Enterprises Selects Christie As Exclusive Digital Cinema Provider At New La Jolla Theater In San Diego

2012-11-29
NEW YORK, NY, November 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) Expanding its premium movie viewing experience to San Diego for the first time, ArcLight Cinemas once again trusted Christie digital projectors to exclusively light up the exhibitor's new 14-screen multiplex in La Jolla, providing audiences with its signature Hollywood viewing experience that treats every guest like a star. The new 1,800-seat ArcLight La Jolla multiplex houses an array of Christie DLP digital cinema projectors, including five Christie CP4230 4K-resolution units, with one unit powering ArcLight's first "Wide Screen" concept auditorium. ArcLight also plans to upgrade the projectors to High Frame Rate (HFR) 3D technology in time to present Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit," since the Solaria Series is upgradeable to HFR.

"All our screens offer the best in sight, sound, and viewing comfort, with a wide variety of dynamic programming, ranging from the newest Hollywood blockbusters to independent art house fare, cult favorites and classics," said Joe Miraglia, director of design, construction and facilities at ArcLight. "With such diverse content, ArcLight looked to Christie for a range of versatile and superior performance projectors from the Solaria Series, including the Christie CP2210 2K, Christie CP4220 and Christie CP4230 4K projectors, all of which provide the best in both conventional and premier movie experiences."

ArcLight Cinemas recently opened its doors to the La Jolla community and held a special event on Friday, Nov. 16, to officially welcome its new audience.

According to Miraglia, the choice was also made easier thanks to ArcLight's long history with Christie, which has resulted in the installation of 61 projectors in the company's four Los Angeles-based theaters. With a mission to create the most memorable movie-going experience for film lovers and casual moviegoers alike, ArcLight Cinemas has been changing the way people experience going to the movies for ten years. Its sit-down cafe, extra-wide seats with double armrests, and full service concession areas make it more than a place to see a movie - it is also a destination for entertainment and a great night out.

Jose Alvarado, chief executive officer of ACS Enterprises Inc., which installed the Christie projectors in the La Jolla Theater at the Westfield UTC shopping mall, remarked that ArcLight auditoriums are unique in their designs. They are not constructed with maximum seating in mind; instead, they are built around the screen, focusing on a "black box" design aesthetic, which emphasizes undistracted viewing and features the best in sight and sound technology. Familiar with Christie's winning combination of product and support excellence from its previous installations at ArcLight theaters, ACS powered all of the new screens exclusively with Christie projection systems.

"Christie continues to provide the highest quality picture presentation possible, offering best-in-class technology, as well as excellent technical support and expertise," said Alvarado. "At ACS, we strive to efficiently meet our clients' unique requirements, as does Christie. This shared philosophy is the basis of our highly successful partnership. ArcLight needed technology that would benefit greatly from the advances sweeping the industry for 3D and HFR film, and I trusted Christie completely to provide the most reliable products available today."

"With the flexibility and adaptability of the fully DCI-compliant Solaria Series projectors, Christie presented the best solutions to meet ArcLight's distinct audiences," said Craig Sholder, Christie's vice president of Entertainment Solutions. "Christie offers exhibitors the most cost-effective path to the next generation of digital cinema technologies, including HFR 3D movies. We continue to provide an unparalleled range of products and technical support, and are pleased to again be selected as the exclusive digital cinema provider by preferred partner ACS Enterprises, and to get the 'V.I.P' treatment from ArcLight Cinemas."
