Tecate's Family of AC Safety Capacitors for X and Y Class Applications Features both SMD MLLCs and Metallized Polypropylene Radial Box Capacitors

Parts Optimized for Use in AC/DC Power Supplies and RJ11 Applications

2012-11-30
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Tecate Group, a leading global supplier of capacitors and supercapacitors, announced their extensive offering of AC Safety Capacitors for X and Y class applications. Tecate's X/Y safety capacitor portfolio consists of the TYPE CMX multi-layer ceramic chip (MLLC) capacitors along with the TYPE MPX and reduced-size TYPE MPXM metallized polypropylene (OPP) radial box capacitors. The UL-recognized and IEC 60384-1 compliant devices target a broad range of applications requiring across-the-line and line-to-ground protection. They are optimized to handle high voltage impulses and transients, as well as protect users from electrical shock. Capacitors are also used to filter EMI in power supply applications.

Tecate's TYPE CMX safety-certified X2/Y3 and X1/Y2 ceramic SMD capacitors offer high capacitance values in a small low-cost package. Designed for use in an array of network infrastructure, power management, telecom, and office equipment applications, parts are specified for surge and EMI suppression in switches, routers, concentrators, AC/DC power supplies, remote metering, solar inverters, battery chargers, telecommunications, lighting, ADSL and modems.

The TYPE MPX and reduced-size TYPE MPXM safety-certified X2 metallized polypropylene radial box capacitors provide a low-cost EMI noise suppression solution in a precision molded case. These capacitors are engineered for use in line-by-pass, across-the-line and spark killer circuits and are ideal in power management circuits, power supplies and AC/DC converters, inverters and voltage doublers, as well as antenna-coupling applications. They are widely specified in telecommunication, computing, industrial controls, lighting, appliances, medical, audio and video, power tools, radio and TV broadcast equipment.

Available in NPO/COG and X7R dielectrics, Tecate's TYPE CMX MLCCs are provided in capacitance ranges from 2pF to 4700pF, and 150pF to 0.056uF (X2) in case sizes 1808, 1812, 2208, 2211, 2220 and 2825. Additional electrical specifications include a rated voltage of 250VAC, operating temperature range of from -55 degrees C to +125 degrees. They are certified by TUV and UL.

Featuring non-inductive construction, Tecate's self-healing TYPE MPX and TYPE MPXM metallized polypropylene radial box capacitors boast a voltage rating of 275VAC (250VAC for UL and CSA). Parts are constructed of copper clad steel leads and encapsulated in a flame-retardant plastic case (UL 94V-0 compliant), sealed with epoxy resin. Capacitors also feature high moisture resistance and good solderability.

The UL, CSA, VDE and ENEC recognized TYPE MPX metallized polypropylene radial box capacitors are available in capacitance ranges from 0.0047uF to 2.2uF (0.0047uF to 1.0uF for UL and CSA) and in sizes ranging from 13.0 mm (L) x 11.0 mm (H) x 5.0 mm (T) to 37.0 mm (L) x 29 mm (H) x 19.0 mm (T). Their operating temperature range is -40 degrees to +100 degrees C (-40 degrees C to +85 degrees C for UL and CSA). Lead length is 25 mm minimum.

TYPE MPXM parts are UL, VDE, SEV, SEMKO, DEMKO, NEMKO and FIMKO recognized, and supplied in capacitance ranges from 0.01uF to 1.0uF and in sizes ranging from 18.0 mm (L) x 11.0 mm (H) x 5.0 mm (T) to 32.0 mm (L) x 22.0 mm (H) x 13.0 mm. Their operating temperature range is -40 degrees to +100 degrees C. Lead length is 23 mm minimum

In quantities of 5K, Tecate's TYPE CMX MLCC capacitor prices start at $0.035 each; TYPE MPX and MPXM OPP radial box capacitor pricing starts at $0.045 each. Delivery is from stock to 10 weeks ARO.
