DDS Training & Sedation Support Services Releases "Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals" Training Program

DDS Training & Sedation Support Services has announced the release of its newest dental training course entitled Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals

2010-10-15
HUNTERSVILLE, NC, October 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) DDS Training & Sedation Support Services has announced the release of its newest dental training course entitled Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals. This exciting new course covers basic life support skills from the perspective of the dental professional. All dental professionals, especially ones practicing sedation dentistry, will appreciate the comprehensive training provided on the management of medical emergencies in the dental office.

The Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals course follows current American Heart Association (AHA) ECC guidelines. It is considered an equivalent program to those provided by both the AHA and the American Red Cross. This course teaches basic life support skills for victims of all ages, including 1-rescuer and 2-rescuer CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and foreign-body airway obstruction removal.

A unique feature of the program is the comprehensive, dental-specific training provided on basic life support management of angina, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, stroke, anaphylaxis, syncope, seizure, bronchospasm, hyperventilation, hypoglycemia, local anesthetic toxicity, and aspiration. DDS Training & Sedation Support Services turned to the Institute for Medical Emergency Preparedness (IMEP), a recognized leader in dental medical emergency office preparedness, for assistance in the development of their medical emergency BLS algorithms.

The Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals is an exciting new program, specifically designed for dental professionals. Dental professionals should consider basic life support as the minimum level of emergency training they must have.

The Basic Life Support for Dental Healthcare Professionals program is available both in an online and live classroom based format. Students successfully completing the course, including a written exam, will receive a BLS for Dental Healthcare Providers completion card valid for two years. If in-person skills evaluation (or classroom element) is required by a student's dental licensing board and/or employers this can be arranged in the convenience of the student's dental practice.

Shannon Miller, Executive VP & COO of DDS Training & Sedation Support Services said, "Our organization has long felt that dental professionals have been underserved in the basic life support training market. And now, with the rapid growth of sedation dentistry, basic life support training is even more important. We are very pleased that dental professionals throughout the U.S. will finally have basic life support that is specific to medical emergencies they may encounter. It is our hope that this course will raise the overall level of dental medical emergency preparedness in the profession.

Dr. Chris Rothman, COO & Co-Founder of IMEP stated, "Everyone agrees Basic Life Support (BLS) is the cornerstone of emergency preparedness in the dental office. That is why the ADA recommends ALL office personel are trained in BLS. This new program by DDS Training & Sedation Support Services goes beyond traditional BLS and gives instructions tailored for the dental setting."

Dr. John Roberson, CEO & Co-Founder of IMEP said, "We are very excited at IMEP what Mr. Miller and DDSTraining has accomplished in his BLS course for Dentistry. Absolutely nothing out there exists like this program and will be a major benefit for every person in the dental office to participate. To be ready for a medical emergency in the dental office, it starts by being trained in Basic Life Support. You must KNOW BLS without a doubt when an emergency occurs, there can be no guessing."

2010-10-15
Family Solicitor Trethowans looks at the issue of mediation in divorce cases. The Justice Minister, Jonathan Djanogly has recently lambasted parents for using the Courts to decide their children's future, rather than exercising their own responsibility and making those decisions between themselves. Whilst Mr Djanogly's principle concern was the use of L143M of public funds in the last year alone to settle disputes within the Court arena, the same criticism can be levied against "privately paying" parents who do not qualify for state assistance.
