All Aboard - Adventure Holidays for the WHOLE Family - Adventure World NZ

Grab grandma, grandpa and the kids, and get ready to take off on an overseas adventure. Multi-generational holidays are one of the hottest trends in travel, with more and more families choosing to take a trip overseas together.

2010-10-15
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, October 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) "Multi-generational holidays are becoming an increasingly popular travel option amongst Kiwis," says Melissa Rendell, marketing manager at leading New Zealand travel company, Adventure World, who says that New Zealanders are beginning to pick up on what has become a huge international trend in travel.

"People live very busy lives these days, and are spending less and less time together as a family. Multi-generational holidays provide the perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together."

While there was a time when multi-generational travel was limited to visiting theme parks or taking the family on a "bucket and spade" holiday - which are great fun for the kids but not so much for the grownups - Rendell says that this simply isn't the case anymore.

"Today, we're seeing people go to resorts, on cruises, to Africa, China and just about anywhere in the world together as a family."

While some people may be apprehensive about taking an overseas holiday with their extended family, Rendell says that when the trips are organised properly with the right type of activities planned, they offer grandparents, parents and kids the chance see a new place through each other's eyes.

"It's all about shared enrichment," says Rendell, "which helps strengthen family connections. We're not talking about the traditional family holiday, where the parents do one thing and the kids are put into a kids club, but about families doing, seeing and experiencing things as a family - totally engaging in each moment of the trip, together."

From exploring the wildlife of the Galapagos, taking a family trek into the hill tribe villages of Thailand, to a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, Maasai dancing and a beadwork and bow shooting lesson in Africa, Adventure World offers a whole host of inter-generational family holiday packages - designed to suit every budget - that are kid tested, parent approved and seamlessly executed, and include:

The eight day, seven night Legends Of Lycia tour, which offers families a chance to explore one of the Mediterranean's most attractive coastal towns - Kas - and walk amongst the superb ruined city of Xanthos. Departing from Dalaman Airport this tour is priced from $998 per adult and $854 per child and includes seven nights accommodation in standard hotels, transport, most meals, and a tour leader. Minimum age 8.

The seven day, six night Makutsi Safari Springs package, which enables families to explore Africa's 'Big 5'. Priced from $6,405 for two adults and two children this package includes accommodation, most meals, sightseeing as specified, entrance fees and transportation. Price based on two rooms.

For those families that want to explore the historical side of China, the 15 day / 14 night Great Wall & Warriors tour is a must. Marvel at the superhuman skills of Shaolin monastery's 'Kung Fu' monks and stay on towering rice terraces and learn about village life. Departing from Beijing this tour is priced from $3,079 per adult and $2,729 per child and includes accommodation in various hotels and guest houses, transport, most meals and a tour leader plus driver(s), boatmen and some local guides.
