LateRooms.com - Discover Future Beauty in London

London welcomes Future Beauty to the Barbican Art Gallery and offers people the chance to find out more about Japanese fashion.

2010-10-17
LONDON, ENGLAND, October 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) The worlds of fashion and art combine for the Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery.

Attendees from London hotels will be able to see designs from an impressive number of artists who have shaped certain areas of the world of fashion, such as Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garcons founder Rei Kawakubo.

However, this display is not all about celebrating the clothes created by established names such as these, but also to highlight some of the innovations by more radical Japanese artists.

Curated by Akiko Fukai, director of the Kyoto Costume Institute, the collection will be available to view from October 15th 2010 to February 6th 2011.

"Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion is the first exhibition in Europe to comprehensively survey avant-garde Japanese fashion, from the early 1980s to the present," claimed the organisers.

The exhibition opens at 11:00 BST every day of the week, with the space closing at 18:00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 22:00 on Thursdays and 20:00 the rest of the week.

Tickets for the show cost GBP10 on the door, but people can pay just GBP8 by booking online.

If individuals want to further their understanding of Japanese fashion, they could attend one of the many activities taking place, such as Future Fashion: Family Workshop starting on October 30th, although this does cost extra.

For more information on this event visit the Barbican website or contact the venue on +44 (0)20 7638 8891.

Missouri School Bus Crash Restarts Seat Belt Debate

2010-10-17
The state of Missouri has more than 12,000 school buses to transport over a half-million schoolchildren every day. The recent deadly school bus crash in Franklin County prompted parents across the state to ask why every child on every Missouri school bus isn't protected by a seat belt. The early August crash near Gray Summit killed two, including a 15-year-old high school student on her way with classmates to the nearby Six Flags theme park. CBS News reported that the wreck apparently began when a pick-up truck rear-ended a semi-truck that slowed to enter a road construction ...
