Group That Helps Parents With Special Needs Children To Be Feted

Stonefire Grill Rewards Worthy Group With Catered Party For 100

2012-12-15
LONG BEACH, CA, December 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) Having a child with special needs requires parents to invest even more time and energy than those with unaffected children do. In an effort to bring some relief to the lives of these parents, Thousand Oaks resident Melissa Berenstein, mother of 15-year-old Miranda who has cerebral palsy, came up with the idea to have a night out for parents- to encourage them to "let down their hair and socialize with others in the same boat." Each month, Melissa coordinates 2 dinners -- one for moms and one for dads -- where they are able to socialize, build friendships and develop support systems with other parents who have special needs children.

This season will be extra special for Berenstein as she is the winner of a holiday themed contest launched on Facebook by Stonefire Grill, popular family restaurants that recently held a contest for the most deserving groups -- the winner of which receives a free, fully catered party for up to 100 guests.

Berenstein will celebrate together with 100 parents from her group, Center 4 Special Needs, on Monday, December 17 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. at the Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village (5495 Via Rocas).

"This is one of our most widely anticipated annual events because it fulfills our mission of bettering the lives of others," said Justin Lopez, Stonefire Grill spokesperson. "By sponsoring this contest, we are able to uncover the many gems throughout Southern California like Melissa, who are working hard to benefit others, which so beautifully represents the spirit of the season."

Stonefire Grill has earned national attention for its value-oriented catering. The entire menu of American fare (i.e., Mesquite BBQ Tri Tip, BBQ and Lemon Garlic Chicken Breast, Baby Back Ribs, and a wide assortment of salads, pizzas and pastas) is available via its catering operation. Packages start at just $7.99 per person and include a choice of entrees, salads, sides and pastas. Plates, utensils and napkins are included.
