TAMPA, FL, December 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) This Tuesday, December 18, it will be an honor for Sunstone Construction to participate with Operation FINALLY HOME and other community partners to dedicate the new home of SPC Charlie Lemon. Chief Jane Castor of Tampa PD is slated to be the key note speaker. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. at 1922 W. Gray Street, Tampa, FL 33606.
On June 8, 2011, while deployed in Afghanistan with the 3rd Armored Calvary out of Ft. Hood, TX, an explosive device destroyed the Humvee SPC Charlie Lemon was riding in. This explosion caused SPC Lemon to lose both of his legs. Specialist Lemon has returned to Tampa after months of extensive rehabilitation at San Antonio Military Medical Center in Texas. He is the recipient of an Operation FINALLY HOME house whose wall raising occurred in August. Operation FINALLY HOME partners with corporate sponsors, builder associations, builders, developers, individual contributors, and volunteers to help severely wounded heroes and their families' transition from the battlefront to the home front. "I am beyond excited to finally be able to move-in to my new custom built home," Specialist Lemon said. "I will be forever grateful to Gramatica SIPS, Sunstone Construction, Operation FINALLY HOME and the local community for all their support!" Mr. Lamb of CPR stated "our work for this endeavor in the Tampa Bay area is far from over, in fact we are breaking ground in St Petersburg the following day for another green home for another special veteran.
SPC Lemon's new home was built by Sunstone Construction. Sunstone Construction, a veteran owned business, has launched a "Planet Forward" concept for Green building in partnership with GE Eco-magination. Sunstone's offerings range from a LEED platinum certifiable to affordable "Net Zero" achievable homes throughout the Tampa Bay region. They utilize Gramatica's Structural Insulated Panels (SIP's) along with other energy efficient products. In all models, the base level comes standard with the infrastructure to accommodate upgrades based on consumer demand and affordability. The base level is ENERGY STAR rated and FGBC Green certified which allows homeowners an average savings of around $1,000 on their spending towards a "net zero" energy utility when compared to a normal home of its size. Sunstone's greenest offering includes solar panels with optional battery backup, cistern and several other available components.
