VANCOUVER, BC, December 16, 2012 (Press-News.org) This holiday season, Kryton's staff went head to head in their annual gender challenge - who will raise the most money for Canuck Place Children's Hospice? The winning team will be announced at the company party this month.
Kryton International Inc. and its employees have shown their generous spirit this year by sponsoring Canuck Place Children's Hospice Light up their Lives Campaign. Everyone came together to find innovative ways to help this great cause, and the genders are battling it out through some friendly competition. Funds were raised through direct donations, fundraising activities and a contribution from the company. Kryton donated $2500 to this year's campaign, lighting up 500 lights on the home, as well providing support through concrete waterproofing product donations used to construct the new facility in Abbotsford.
"I wouldn't have known much about Canuck Place if it wasn't for our great culture here at Kryton. The staff came up with some fun fundraisers and was great about really letting us know about the charity" adds Kryton employee Bonna Bonaag, "Of course the added bonus of being serenaded by all the men at the office Christmas party was another great incentive to donate!"
Canuck Place Children's Hospice provides specialized pediatric palliative care for children living with life-threatening illnesses and support for their families throughout British Columbia. With comfortable surroundings, personalized programs, caring professional staff and dedicated volunteers, it is a place for children and families to come in their time of need. Canuck Place Children's Hospice is building a second facility in Abbotsford that will double the current capacity of Canuck Place Children's Hospice to better meet the growing need for pediatric palliative care services in the Fraser Valley and across the province.
To support their services and second facility in Abbotsford, Canuck Place launched its Light up their Lives campaign - selling light sponsorships to decorate their hospice. "There is a wonderful community that surrounds Canuck Place, not just during the holidays, but all year around," said Margaret McNeil, CEO, Canuck Place. "Kryton is a part of this community, and we are grateful for their generosity and commitment to BC's children and families facing life-threatening illnesses. Thank you!"
"We are thrilled to be a part of the new building in Abbotsford and opportunity to ensure that the facility is healthy and dry for the children." Says Kryton CEO Kari Yuers "I was so happy when our staff chose to also support the Canuck Place through a cash donation, they really came together to plan the fundraising activities and got everyone involved in the 'battle of the sexes' challenge! We are proud to be involved with such a great organization."
