In the Latest Issue of "Straight Talk," Coranet Corp. Shares Three Important Guidelines for Organizations Choosing an External Network Installation Services Provider in 2013
2012-12-17
NEW YORK, NY, December 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Through Straight Talk, Coranet's CEO Margaret Marcucci shares perspectives on important trends in data networking and business communications. "This issue is a 'must-read' for executives who are still finalizing their infrastructure support plans for 2013," according to Marcucci.

In the first part of the paper, Coranet reviews the non-stop changes in communications technology over the past ten years, which have brought opportunities on one hand, and challenges on the other. A graphic illustrates how priorities may shift over time for many organizations - from establishing the necessary foundation infrastructure to utilizing the new infrastructure to improve business operations.

Next, Marcucci describes internally supported, externally supported and "shared responsibility zone" approaches across five key areas of technology support. The paper then goes on to cite research showing that more than half of those companies surveyed plan to expand their use of outside resources going forward.

Marcucci concludes with three guidelines for selecting an external service provider that can make the difference between success and failure.
1. Make sure that they have proven technical skills and experience supporting the specific solutions in use by your company. Check their references by speaking to other customers that have similar infrastructures to your own.
2. Ensure that they have a genuine 'shared skin-in-the-game' commitment to your business success. Support providers that operate in that mode will readily offer performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that 'have teeth' and will also give you a clear and effective procedure for escalations.
3. Make sure that the "business chemistry" feels right. In addition to their demonstrated technical competency, put heavy weighting on their flexibility, availability, responsiveness, proactivity and open communications style.

In the first issue of Straight Talk, Marcucci looked at a rapidly evolving aspect of business mobility - the trend toward Bring Your Own Device or BYOD. Coranet believes that BYOD is something that our clients cannot afford to ignore. Companies must take a proactive approach in the areas of security, technology and financial support.
