Dominion Acquisitions Ltd: Optimised Mobile Websites Important for Business
2012-12-19
LONDON, ENGLAND, December 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) According to an article published on Marketing Week, UK shoppers spent in average GBP1,000 each online in 2011. With an increase of 14% on the previous year, Ofcom's findings of the seventh International Communications Market Report from 13 December have revealed that Britain is the number one online shopping nation, followed by Australia with an average spending of GBP842. Adina Stoleru, Managing Director at Dominion Acquisitions, says: "The British seem to develop into a high tech-shoppers nation. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to adapt to the new trend and use these figures to enhance their business growth in the coming years." 16% of all web traffic in Britain was done through a mobile, tablet or other connected device which means that the British are consuming more mobile data than any other nation for the first time.

"Just look around you," says Adina Stoleru at Dominion Acquisitions, "there is hardly anyone who does not own a smartphone or a tablet device in business or for private use." The Ofcom study confirms that 58% of the British population own a smartphone, while 19% have a tablet device. Adina Stoleru finds it therefore shocking that just over a third, 37% of the top 100 advertisers, have a mobile optimised website (IAB). "Ofcom's figures clearly represent the trend of the next few years, therefore it is only logical to invest in mobile-optimised websites and mobile apps in order to keep up with competitors," says Adina Stoleru at Dominion Acquisitions.

Christmas is only one week ahead, the perfect time to increase sales figures for the current year. "Mobile shopping is easy, people avoid the crowds in the Christmas shopping rush and get everything delivered to their house," says Adina Stoleru at Dominion Acquisitions. Companies like Deloitte take this opportunity very serious. Deloitte has forecasted GBP330 million of sales directly through smartphones this Christmas, with another GBP500 million coming from tablets. Furthermore, Adina Stoleru describes Harrods as a fantastic example of engaging their online audience through the Harrods Magazine for iPad as an extension of Harrods' real-world brand persona. The app digitises the print edition's features by adding video interviews, fashion-shoot footage or interactive sections to try on virtual make-up (Guardian.co.uk).

The mobile era has started, explains Adina Stoleru at Dominion Acquisitions. Almost a quarter of Britain's smartphone users use their device to visit retail websites, the highest level out of the five largest European countries. Adina Stoleru is certain, that businesses can increase on sales if they focus on engaging consumers with an easy and creative online presentation through mobile-optimised websites and apps.
