LOS ANGELES, CA, December 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Chabot Strategies and Direct Measures International strongly encourages communities to better train themselves against active shooters. This training is not just for law enforcement. We strongly encourage participation from schools, hospitals, colleges, businesses, government offices, community organizations, and more.
Dr. Paul Chabot, President of Chabot Strategies said, "The mass killing of 20 children and six adults yesterday is yet another reminder that no community is immune from evil. Schools, hospitals, malls, theaters have all been terrorized this year by the darkest of mankind. There is hope, and better preparing our agencies, our friends and ourselves is vital. We don't yet know where or when the next tragedy will occur and no location is 100% safe. We hope our Active-Shooter course will provide some level of awareness and instruction to better prepare our Nation for this new form of domestic terrorism."
Alon Stivi, President of Direct Measures International, and former Platoon Sergeant with Israeli Special Forces stated, "This training is necessary to address violence and terrorism. Programs can be adopted by anyone in public or private sectors, including schools, corporations, and hospitals, houses of worship, law enforcement, security professionals and law abiding citizens from all walks of life."
ABOUT THE COURSE:
Violence is a harsh reality in contemporary society. Men, women and children worldwide have been the victims of active shooters and terrorists. Costs can include liability lawsuits, medical and psychiatric care, property damage, lost business and productivity and most important of all, the death or injury of innocent people. Pre-incident training reduces vulnerability and effective response by people at the scene can minimize casualties.
The ACT Cert Violence Prevention & Active Shooter Survival course is a cost-effective training solution that reduces risks and improve preparedness.
The course curriculum focuses on Prevention & Response.
The course addresses the essential functions of the "First Preventers" in recognizing trends and potentials, pre-attack indicators, and reporting early warning signs of violence. It teaches how to implement effective security measures to deter potential attackers and reduce overall risk.
The course explicitly addresses the critical role of "On-Location Responders" during the initial moments of an Active Shooter incident prior to law enforcement intervention, when most casualties occur (first ten minutes). It teaches how to rapidly assess the threat, use cover and evacuate safely when possible, or how to barricade and hide from the shooter. Participants also learn proven Last Resort Survival Measures to fight the shooter and take control of their weapon. Effective communication and interaction with responding officers is also covered.
The skills taught can be adapted by participants with varying levels of experience. The course material is designed to enhance, augment, complete, and complement previous training. This training can help improve security and enhance survivability in the event of a violent attack, thus reducing overall liability and risk.
