TORONTO, ON, December 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Trilogy, a division of remBrand Sports, held its first Athlete Mentor Conference, from December 9th to 11th, 2012, at the Novotel Hotel in downtown Toronto. The two-day conference tackled topics ranging from how active professional athletes and Olympians can develop their brand while in the game to taking steps to ensure a successful post-game transition. Trilogy's Mentor Conference aimed to hone the participants' mentoring and coaching skills and growing their understanding of this first-of-its-kind program so the Mentors can educate, inspire and engage world-class athletes.
The Conference united sixteen participants from across North America, including Trilogy's first group of eight Athlete Mentors, comprised of former NHLers, NFLers, PGAers and Canadian and U.S.A. Olympians. These former athletes - who all have made successful transitions to the business world - benefited from discussions and presentations from prominent thought-leaders on business coaching, philanthropic causes, personal and business branding and digital channel campaigns and examined current player issues from in-game leadership development to challenges experienced outside the game, including one's personal life.
During the Conference, Trilogy Mentor Steve Payne (former NHLer) had this to say about his Trilogy role: "The value we bring in mentoring and coaching is in helping with direction in life - assisting active professional athletes and Olympians in figuring out how to develop business and philanthropic opportunities while in the game, and identifying what they want to passionately pursue when they leave competitive sports, because no one plays forever. I learned at this conference that as Trilogy Mentors, we can leverage our past experiences to guide athletes along the right path - this will be a life changing journey for all of us."
Mentor Allain Roy commented, "As a former professional athlete and Olympian, and today as a player agent, I know the earlier an athlete begins preparing for a transition that could be years down the road, the more successful that transition will be. Trilogy is offering game-changing solutions that will help all active world-class athletes by enabling better life decisions as it relates to sport, business and life."
Tim Massaquoi, Trilogy Mentor and a former NFL player added, "Trilogy is unique in how it brings athletes from every major sport together. Regardless of what sport we played, we all faced the same battles both in the game and post-game. This conference has provided me with the tools needed to help current players face these issues head on, while allowing them (and me) to access an extensive network of players who have already lived through these issues."
With its successful Mentor Conference now under its belt, remBrand Sports is excited about what 2013 holds for its Trilogy division, the Mentors and Trilogy Members.
The next Athlete Mentor Conference will be held in the spring of 2013, as remBrand Sports continues to develop game-changing solutions to optimize celebrity athlete opportunities and meet the ever-increasing challenges faced by professional athletes and Olympians both in and out of the game.
