Capital Meats Makes $33,000 In-Kind Donation to Kids' Charity

Virginia's Capital Meats has become a sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club--and made a donation of $33,000 in in-kind products.

2012-12-24
PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Since 1997, Capital Meats has been known primarily for one thing, and one thing only--its provision of high-quality meat products, at affordable prices, to families across the country. More recently, however, the company has made headlines for something else--its announcement that it has become a new sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford County, in Maryland. Capital Meats has begun its Boys & Girls Club sponsorship with a bang, donating $33,000 of in-kind product to the organization.

The product donated by Capital Meats was used to fund the after-school programs offered by the Boys & Girls Club, which provides activities and enrichment to some 3,700 kids and young people every year.

In addition to this sizable donation, Capital Meats also worked to assemble 20 boxes of toys for the Edgewood Boys & Girls Club. The toys were personally delivered by representatives of Capital Meats, along with professional boxer and local legend Seth Mitchell.

Though there is never any shortage of deserving organizations, making great efforts to impact communities for the better, Capital Meats owner Scott McMichael says his business could not help but be drawn to the Boys & Girls Club. "This is an organization that is right there in the trenches, making a difference in the lives of kids and young people each and every day--thousands of kids each year, in total," says McMichael. "There are innumerable bad influences and sources of potential trouble for the young people of our community, but here is an organization that invests in them and sets them up for a bright future. That is the kind of work that deserves full support."

McMichael also made note of the company's involvement in the toy drive. "It is a small gesture, to give a child a toy or two during the holiday season, but this kind of tangible effort can truly change a young life," he remarks. "As such, we are grateful to Boys & Girls Club for all that they do, and for the opportunities they give the rest of us to participate."

Capital Meats was founded in Winchester, Virginia, in 1997, and since then has grown to become a leading supplier of affordable, high-quality meat products to consumers and families across America. The company offers beef, poultry, and pork products, all made from American sources. Capital Meats is known for putting flavor and freshness first.
