LONDON, ENGLAND, December 26, 2012 (Press-News.org) The festive season provides ample opportunity for socialising. From the girly get-togethers in the build-up to the big day, to the office outings before the Christmas break, there is no shortage of situations where you will need to look your finest.
Of all the celebrations though, the one for which most of us like to make a little extra effort is New Year's Eve. Whether you're having an informal get-together with friends or family, a meal out with your man or a glamorous evening of drinking and dancing, just make sure you welcome in the New Year in style. Stand out from the crowd in show-stopping splendour.
You may well be making your way to an informal party at a friend's house, but that's no excuse to dress down. The chances are you'll have spent far too much time over Christmas clad in chunky knits and loose-fitting lounge pants, so you're certain to be itching to get out of your comfy gear and get a little bit dressed up.
What does 2013 have in store?
The big question is what will make the perfect party dress? For some it may be all about the shimmer of silk and satin, the sparkle of accessories or the chance to impress those around you with a burst of colour. For others it may be time to give the little black dress, that faithful friend, another festive airing. Whether you choose to head out to the shops for something new or you already have the perfect Christmas dress ready and waiting in your wardrobe, feeling good in your frock will mean that you're dressed to impress.
If you haven't already got your party garment organised, why not consider a 1920s-inspired dress? While the longer length and exposed arms may not be for everyone, the combination of cocktail dress glamour and the silhouette-skimming shape may appeal strongly to some. This style of dress has added appeal as the shape offers some forgiveness for any indulgences you may have enjoyed during the festive season. It flows loosely and naturally over your stomach rather than clinging to your Christmas curves.
A great alternative to the little black dress or cocktail frock is the effortless but enviable chic of the jumpsuit. If you don't fancy baring your legs, then opt for one of these. It is truly the epitome of effortless style and a great alternative to the more androgynous trouser suit. Add a touch of glamour to your outfit with a statement necklace to adorn an open neck with a touch of sparkle and stand out from the crowd. You don't necessarily need to stick to court shoes in a bid to keep out the cold.
A strappy open sandal can add an element of allure to your all-in-one ensemble.
If you're looking to update your favourite dress, try combining it with shoe or ankle boots for an urban edge. You can give a relatively safe outfit a modern twist by brightening up that little black dress with a pair of brightly coloured tights. Neons are not necessarily the way to go, but warm winter colours can add an element of interest and individuality.
Leather handbags make a great accessory and can complete your look. Avoid styles with shoulder straps as they can be quite dating and opt for a clutch bag to complete the look instead.
About Jane Shilton
We're a rare thing these days: a British company that's family owned, with a fairytale foundation. We began 79 years ago when Alexander Shilton set up a handbag company in the City of London. When he went off to war, the factory made gas masks and Alex's secretary Jane ran everything like clockwork in his absence - despite the building being bombed four times. Alex returned, married Jane and renamed the company 'Jane Shilton'.

2012-12-26
As a Chicago Injury Attorney for more than 37 years I marvel at the reluctance of those members of the bar that reject the exchange of pleadings, motions, discovery and correspondence by e-mail. When I began my career, secretaries armed with carbon paper and large erasers was the only method of making multiple copies of documents. Copiers were rare and the pages printed on wet type paper that faded from the moment they were created. It forced most attorneys to carefully hand write documents or face the wrath of a secretary that had to retype everything from scratch. Bicycle ...
