Michelle Monica To Take The Stage During Special Tribute Event As Part Of The Sunset Strip Music Festival

Monica Will Perform Several Songs And Join A Who's Who List of Music Stars Honoring Rock Icon Slash

2010-08-21
BURBANK, CA, August 21, 2010 (Press-News.org) Fresh off her stunning encore performance at the recent IShowcase Event in Hollywood, Michelle Monica is going to be one of the featured singers at a special opening night event for The Sunset Strip Music Festival, one of the music industry's biggest events in recent years. Monica is part of a lineup of stars that will be honoring Rock music superstar, Slash, on a special tribute night, August 26th at the famed House of Blues. The event will kick off three days of performances by such notable recording artists as The Smashing Pumpkins, Common, Kid Cudi, Travie McCoy, Semi Precious Weapons, Steel Panther, Fergie and others.

"Needless to say I am very excited about this performance and having the chance to be a part of something this big and that honors someone as special as Slash," Monica said. "I can't wait."

Michelle Monica is a Pop-R&B singer who brings an edgy, couture style to her music. She has an unforgettable look and an even more extraordinary voice. A regular performer on Sunset Strip, this is also not the first time she has performed with and for Slash. She was also on stage with him at an event not long ago in Las Vegas, where she also was honored to sing with the likes of Nicole Sherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, and another rock icon, Courtney Love. For this event she will be performing music from her debut CD as well as joining others and helping with back- up.

The Sunset Strip Music Festival is in its third year and closes down part of Sunset Boulevard so that it can feature two main outdoor stages and include acts performing at some of the Strip's most famous music venues, The House of Blues, The Viper Room, Whiskey A Go Go, The Key Club and the Roxy Theater. It promises to be three days of some of the best live music and best performers one can find, all in one place.

Monica, a former "American Idol" contestant, is one of the few un-signed artists who will be performing solos at the event, which is a tribute to her talent and the attention she has been generating lately.

"Believe me, I know how lucky I am to be invited to perform at this event," she said. "But I am looking to make this a regular thing so I hope to get invited back every year. This is what I live for."
