ElectraTherm Commissions Two Green Machines in Czech Republic at a Manufacturing Plant

The machines were commissioned this summer and have a combined fleet runtime total of more than 5,000 hours.

2013-01-04
RENO, NV, January 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) ElectraTherm, a leader in small-scale, waste heat to power generation, installed two Green Machines at FOSFA, a manufacturer of phosphoric acid and phosphates in the Czech Republic. The machines were commissioned this summer and have a combined fleet runtime total of more than 5,000 hours.

The manufacturing plant operates four 250kW internal combustion engines for onsite power. ElectraTherm's Green Machines run in parallel with two of the engines, supplied by hot water from the jacket water and exhaust systems of the engines at 88-95°C. The machines are cooled by a cooling tower the facility already uses for their chemical process.

The two Green Machines each generate close to 26kWe, increasing site efficiency and reducing the plant's carbon footprint. The Green Machine power is fed back onto the grid and meets national feed-in tariff requirements for renewable energy.

"ORC technology complements the Czech Republic's pursuit towards its national renewable portfolio goals because it utilizes a pre-existing heat source without the investment, environmental-footprint and risk often associated with other renewable technologies," said Lok Selveraj, President of GB Consulting, ElectraTherm's eastern European distributor. "The Green Machine is also robust with low maintenance requirements, maximizing the machine's return on investment."

ElectraTherm's Green Machine generates fuel-free, emission free power from waste heat, on applications such as biogas, IC engines, biomass and geothermal/co-produced fluids. Hot water enters the Green Machine between 77-116°C (170-240°F), where it heats a working fluid into pressurized vapor, using Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and proprietary technologies. As the vapor expands, it drives ElectraTherm's patented twin screw power block, which spins an electric generator and produces up to 65kWe.

ElectraTherm will exhibit at the Biogas Trade Fair in Hall 2, booth number 05.16. The event takes place January 29-31, 2013 in Leipzig, Germany. ElectraTherm's Series 4000 Green Machine ORC will be on display.

ElectraTherm, Inc., provides heat to power generation systems to industry worldwide. The company's proven, patented Twin Screw Expander enables its line of recovered energy generating systems to make electricity from low to mid temperature heat that would otherwise go to waste. ElectraTherm's fuel-free, emission-free and low cost 'Green Machines' offer the industry's shortest payback period on investment.
