ATLANTA, GA, January 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has invited Mike Taylor, CEO of Innovative-e, to be a panelist at the launch of the U.S. Department of State's Program and Project Management Community of Practice (PPMCoP) on January 16, 2013. Mike Taylor is the President and CEO of Innovative-e, Inc., a business consulting and technology solutions company that helps enterprise clients turn project management chaos into success. Taylor is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than 20 years of IT experience. Other panelists include Gary Anderson, Director, Management Tradecraft Training, Foreign Service Institute; Bruce W. Moler, Federal Acquisition Institute, Acquisition Program Executive; and Darla Howard-Ramirez, Chair, Board of Directors, PMI DC Chapter.
The panel discussion will be a follow up conversation to the keynote presentation on "Successful Project Management Practices across the Federal Government," by Jonathan Weinstein, President of Line of Sight. The launch will take place at the Loy Henderson Auditorium in the Main State (Harry S. Truman) Building.
The mission of the State Department's new PPMCoP is to advance a practical understanding of program and project management at the U.S. Department of State and to provide guidance for members as to how to gain added knowledge and skills, promote industry standards, and facilitate best practices. The group emerged through the efforts of several individuals at the Department of State who sought to align the program management expertise resident at DOS with their first Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR), which was announced by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2009. At its core, the QDDR provides a blueprint for elevating American "civilian power" to better advance national interests and to be a better partner to the U.S. military.
