Holy Cross Hospital Unveils One Of A Kind 3-Dimensional Artwork by Lawrence Romorini to Commemorate First 50 Years

Holy Cross Hospital unveiled One Of A Kind 3-dimensional commemorative art by Lawrence Romorini at their 50th anniversary reception on Thursday to launch their celebration.

2013-01-14
SILVER SPRING, MD, January 14, 2013 (Press-News.org) Holy Cross Hospital unveiled One Of A Kind 3-dimensional commemorative art by Lawrence Romorini at their 50th anniversary reception on Thursday to launch the celebration. Over a year in the making, this 56" x 37" x 6" collage reflects the history, leadership, mission, trustworthiness and services of Holy Cross, one of the largest hospital's in Maryland, to its diverse community. The retrospective art will be on permanent display in their lobby area.

Romorini, who has commemorated in 3-dimensional art the stories of Oprah Winfrey, Marriott International, Michael Jordan, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and USA Today, among others, designed the anniversary art with cherry and birdseye maple woods in an arching design that features a timeline since 1963 photoengraved in brass.

The artist incorporated more than 225 photos, publications, pieces of memorabilia and 3D medical instruments to commemorate the story of Holy Cross over the past 50 years. The theme of Holy Cross' 50th Anniversary, "A Legacy of Trust Since 1963" is printed on an EKG reading that flows ribbon-like through the art.

"The enthusiasm of the Holy Cross 50th anniversary committee and their pride in the hospital's unique mission were inspiration," said Romorini. "Together we reviewed and edited hundreds of documents and images to distill the most compelling and complete portrait possible for this important milestone."

The program included remarks by Kevin J. Sexton, President and CEO, Holy Cross Health, The Honorable Congressman Christopher Van Hollen, U.S. Representative, 8th District - MD, The Honorable Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Executive and Judith Rogers, President, Holy Cross Hospital.

Lawrence Romorini, founder of One Of A Kind Art Studio, and a member of the Silver Spring, Maryland community where Holy Cross Hospital is located, has gained a national reputation for the three-dimensional retrospective collages he has created for more than 25 years. Romorini's artwork is on display nationwide with many commissions shown on his website: http://www.oneofakindinc.com.
