LAGUNA BEACH, CA, January 16, 2013 (Press-News.org) Locally owned ArtCube Gallery announces the solo exhibition of abolitionist painter, Jason Pearson. The gallery is located on Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach's art district and will host the exhibition February 1st - 28th, 2013, and the opening will be Saturday, February 2nd from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

"This uncomfortable dichotomy gives voice to art that spotlights the allurement of beauty—although artificial—while concurrently broadcasting an uneasy distortion of the uncanny valley," says Sanja Simidzija, owner of ArtCube Gallery. "Pearson's unique background with nonprofit documentaries and campaigns bring both hope and desperation." Sanja believes that Art can not fully exist without interaction that questions its significance. ArtCube Gallery is a place that builds a unity between the artist and the viewer, and it is only in this interaction that art takes its true meaning.

ArtCube debuts its first show with new work from local artist, Jason Pearson. "You may not recognize his name, but you have seen his work," says ArtCube art director, Victoria Chapman. Jason Pearson has created art for many notables including David Bowie, Trent Reznor, Mel Gibson, Gil Scott-Heron and Aphex Twin. Pearson's work is also featured in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and Victoria and Albert Museum.

The series is titled "The Problem With the World Is Me," and is based on G.K. Chesterton's authentic confession when The Times of London asked noted authors and thinkers to answer the weighty question, "What's wrong with the world?" His fork-in-the-road response: "Dear Sirs, I am. —G.K. Chesterton"

Several of the oil paintings deal with the theme of slavery and peace in Congo. Pearson's inspiration for these pieces came from interactions with LA-based nonprofit, Falling Whistles. The whistle is a symbol of protest and asks of you to be a whistleblower for peace.

About ArtCube Gallery: Art Cube is called such because of the gallery's belief that art cannot fully exist without interaction that questions its significance. Art is therefore a project that builds a unity between the artist and the viewer, and it is only in this collaboration that art takes its true meaning. After spending many years in art business, Art Cube was created as a place that supports the gallery directors' continuous search for truth in art, a place that offers a certain breathing room for the spirit.

About Falling Whistles: Falling Whistles is a campaign for peace in Congo. The whistle is a symbol of protest and asks of you to be a whistleblower for peace. Falling Whistles began when Founder Sean Carasso, met five boys in a military encampment in Congo. Within our world's deadliest war, the five boys had been taken from their homes and thrown into combat as child soldiers forced to fight for two opposing rebel armies. But when asked if that made them enemies, they laughed. One boy reached over and kissed the other boy saying, "We are only boys, how can we be enemies?"

About Jason Pearson:
While living in New York City, Pearson created album art and then editorial fashion and music magazine visuals—all powerfully represented in his art. Over the last five years living in Southern California, he has worked on campaigns and documentaries addressing the global issues of modern slavery, aids + orphan epidemics, hunger and human rights. Here is the irony! Pearson lives next door to "the happiest place on earth" while articulating stories of the saddest places on earth.
