RALEIGH, NC, January 18, 2013 (Press-News.org) Kevin Bassett, President of Bassett & Byers, P.A., a full service CPA firm in Raleigh, NC with a focus on small and middle markets, is pleased to announce the expansion of its practice and name change to reflect the addition of a new partner, B. Dane Byers, CPA, ABV, CFF. With the addition of Byers as the audit, valuation/litigation services and mergers & acquisitions services partner, the firm has changed its name to Bassett & Byers, P.A.

Byers was previously with Nelson & Company, P.A. for 18 years, and served as the audit partner and partner-in-charge of the Raleigh office, before merging his practice with Bassett & Associates, P.A. in 2011. He is heavily involved in corporate valuation issues for estate, acquisition, and litigation issues and in fraud cases and he is accredited in business valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Byers serves as treasurer on the board of the Carolina Arts Festival, treasurer of the Durham Symphony, treasurer of NC Serves, is a past chairman of the board of trustees of the Carolina Theatre of Durham and the past chairman of the board of Sales & Marketing Executives of Durham, Inc. He is also a member of the Business Valuation / Forensic / Litigation Services practice sections of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Byers has taught auditing, federal contract compliance, and internal control / fraud prevention in the Duke University Nonprofit Management program, and has presented seminars on these and valuation subjects to many professional groups. He also teaches valuation and finance cases in the MBA programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, INSEAD University in Singapore, the University of Maryland, and University of California-San Diego.
