LANCASHIRE, ENGLAND, October 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) The pier has received a multi-million pound facelift after a devastating fire ripped through the pavilion in June 2008. A spokesman for the Grand Pier said that the official opening date is set for Saturday 23rd October; just in time for the school half-term holidays.
Described by its owners as "the ultimate indoor theme park", the revamped Grand Pier has a wealth of innovative new attractions, including a go-kart track, a 3D light trail, and a state-of-the-art Formula 1 simulator; one of only two of its kind in Europe. The pier also retains its traditional fairground rides and entertainment venues.
Grand Pier owner Kerry Michael said: "We are confident that the new Pavilion, with its state-of-the-art rides, attractions, function rooms and wedding venues will be a big hit with locals and tourists alike. We have spent an incredible amount of time and money to deliver what we believe is the best pier in the world."
