MARSHFIELD, MA, October 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) This year, NVNA and Hospice celebrates its 90th Anniversary providing award-winning home health care and hospice services and education to communities throughout Boston's South Shore. To mark this important milestone, the agency welcomes the community and its professional network to join two celebratory events to be held October 23rd and November 17th.

The only independent, non-profit home and hospice care agency serving the area, NVNA and Hospice started in 1920 in the basement of Norwell's Town Hall with the mission of "neighbors helping neighbors." Today, NVNA and Hospice continues its legacy of caring and community by:

• Serving over 500 patients a day
• Offering an average of 45 free community health screenings, educational programs and support groups each month in over 25 South Shore communities - from Quincy to Plymouth
• Employing more than 180 of the highest caliber clinicians and para-professionals to provide home health care and hospice services

NVNA and Hospice has earned multiple industry accolades for its service, innovation and business efficiency, including the coveted HomeCare EliteTM award five years in a row. Extending its high quality standards of care to new markets, NVNA and Hospice recently opened NVNA Works, a separate organization providing private pay home care services.

"NVNA and Hospice was founded with a simple, but heartfelt mission that still guides us today, 90 years later," said Meg Doherty, RN, Executive Director of NVNA and Hospice. "We've succeeded as an organization by operating under the principles of integrity, innovation and care - and with the endless support and commitment of our talented staff and loyal patrons. We're fortunate to be able to continue the tradition of care this agency was founded on and look forward to celebrating this milestone with the communities we serve."
