Amafruits New Açaí Puree Packs Help Preserve the Amazon Rainforest, Support Fair-Trade, Taste Great, and are Loaded with Nutritional Benefits!

With the goal of sharing the wonderful flavors and nutritious benefits of superfruits from Brazil, while helping to preserve the Amazon rainforest, Amafruits has created a new line of convenient frozen fruit puree packets made from açaí (ah-sah-ee).

2010-10-20
CLEARWATER, FL, October 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) Amafruits, a company specializing in bringing the rich flavors and nutritional benefits of fruits from the Amazon to American consumers, announced the launch of their newly developed product line of açaí puree packets today. These açaí products are now available in two frozen forms: Açaí Pure - with no additives or artificial ingredients, and citric acid as the only preservative; as well as Açaí Energy - slightly sweetened with a touch of Guaraná syrup.

According to Amafruits, their açaí is handpicked from wild-grown açaí palms in the Amazon River basin in the state of Pará. The açaí palm produces clusters of dark purple açaí berries, which are then harvested, washed, processed to remove the large seed, and gently flash-pasteurized. This process takes place within 24 hours of the harvest in order to ensure that the immense nutritional value and flavor of the berry are preserved.

Along with açaí berries' exceptional and well-known nutritional benefits, Amafruits açaí berries are helping play a part in preserving the rainforest. Demand for açaí berries gives local farmers a greater incentive to preserve the açaí palm for its fruit rather than clear-cutting rainforest to grow soy or raise cattle. In addition, thousands of jobs for small farmers are created through the harvesting of açaí. The açaí berries in Amafruits açaí purees are bought directly from these farmers' co-ops. By eliminating intermediaries, farmers are able to receive fair prices for their açaí fruits. This gives the farmers even more incentive to preserve the beautiful açaí groves, which are an integral part of the Amazon rainforest. Furthermore, parts of Amafruits' proceeds are dedicated to educational and environmental projects in the Amazon aimed at sustainable economic development for the region and the preservation of its ecosystem and native culture.

Amafruits' goal "to share the wonderful flavors and nutritious benefits of superfruits from Brazil through environmentally friendly practices, support preservation of the Amazon, and contribute to fair-trade with indigenous Amazon communities," is definitely being accomplished through the development of authentic Brazilian açaí puree packets. After establishing to meet the growing demand for açaí, Amafruits plans on expanding to include other superfruits from the Amazon. Check back often on the Amafruits website (www.amafruits.com) for new superfruit products like our Açaí Sorbet coming soon!
