CARY, NC, January 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine (http://www.enterprisingwomen.com), has announced that the Enterprising Women Foundation will host a luncheon in celebration of National Mentorship Day on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Matthews House, located at 317 W. Chatham St. in Cary, N.C. Top women entrepreneurs and 20 members of the Girl Scouts of the USA, chosen for their outstanding leadership skills, will come together to discuss and celebrate the importance of developing mentoring relationships to enhance entrepreneurial skills and inspire future generations of leaders.
In support of National Mentorship Day, the Enterprising Women Foundation partnered with Girl Scouts of the USA to help inspire young women to become entrepreneurs. During the luncheon, Darleen Johns, a pioneer among women in the high-tech sector, will receive the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, one of the highest honors the governor can bestow on a North Carolina citizen. Johns is the retired owner of Alphanumeric Systems and current owner of the Shops at Baileywick, a one-of-a-kind decorative and gift shop that houses more than 70 boutiques owned by designers, artists and collectors. The award will be presented by Janet Cowell, the first woman elected as North Carolina State Treasurer.
Tickets are $75 per person, or for $100, the ticket includes a $25 sponsorship for a Girl Scout in attendance. A portion of event proceeds will benefit Girl Scouts of the USA to support local projects related to entrepreneurial and financial literacy.
