Health and Beauty PLLC Looks Forward to the Remote Access Capabilities Provided by the Waiting Room Solutions Family Care Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System (PM).

Health and Beauty PLLC, a family health and aesthetic care practice, has chosen to implement the Waiting Room Solutions Family Care EHR and PM. Clark plans to use this software to combine practice functions into a single system with remote access.

2010-10-20
GOSHEN, NY, October 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) Waiting Room Solutions (WRS) (www.waitingroomsolutions.com), a leading web-based EHR and PM provider, announced today that Health and Beauty PLLC has selected the Waiting Room Solutions Family Care Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management System (PM) for its family care practice.

Karen Clark, FNP has been the sole owner and provider for Health and Beauty PLLC, located in Hickory, NC, for five years. The practice specializes in family care, but also sub-specializes in aesthetic care. Health and Beauty PLLC treats adult and pediatric patients, and aims to provide preventative care while taking a holistic approach to healthcare needs. In addition to these health services, the practice provides cutting-edge cosmetic techniques and procedures, such as injections, laser treatments and skin treatments, to improve both appearance and confidence. In the past the practice used another PM and paper files to manage patient records, but these systems were disjointed and required on-premises access. With the Waiting Room Solutions Family Care Specialty EHR, Health and Beauty PLLC will be able to consolidate practice information and access this information from any location.

The Waiting Room Solutions Family Care EHR and PM has been specifically designed by to maximize the efficiency of a family care practice. To facilitate charting, the system provides specialty templates for history of present illness, review of systems, drug prescription, and more. These point-and-click templates allow physicians to chart faster and reduce chart processing expenses. Due to the web-based nature of these patient records, they can be accessed through an internet connection at any location. In addition to these features, WRS provides integrated Medicare PQRI and electronic prescribing incentive reporting, which will aid the practice in receiving additional Medicare incentive payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Lastly, the system offers automated ICD/CPT coding, increasing the uniformity and accuracy of medical records for both physicians and insurers.

In order to implement the Waiting Room Solutions EHR and PM for Family Care, Health and Beauty PLLC plans to scan select parts of its current patient charts into the new EHR system. New patient records can then be placed directly into the system, along with treatment-specific patient intake forms. The practice will also be able to easily import previously compiled patient demographic data from another system. Clark has also expressed interest in the templates offered by WRS, which are specialized for family care and can be edited to fit the provider's specific charting needs. Additionally, Clark will be able to create custom templates to fit the needs of her cosmetic and aesthetic treatments. Scheduling will also be managed through the WRS system, and the automated appointment confirmation system will lessen the workload of the front desk in handling appointment reminders. This system automatically emails a confirmation to the patient when the appointment is made, and then places a phone call and sends another reminder email twenty-four hours before the scheduled appointment.

Lastly, Health and Beauty PLLC cited lab work as an important component of its practice, since drawings and simple tests are conducted in the office and sent to Quest labs. Through the WRS incoming and outgoing fax queue services and lab interface, the transfer of lab results will be facilitated and results will be placed directly into the appropriate patient records. In addition to all of these features, Waiting Room Solutions EMR and PM will prepare the practice to meet the "meaningful use" criteria as outlined by the Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Meeting these requirements will allow the practice to be eligible for the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) stimulus package incentive program.

"We are glad that our solution so perfectly fits the needs of Health and Beauty PLLC," said Jeff Hirsch, COO of Waiting Room Solutions. "The fact that our EHR and PM system is web-based will fulfill Dr. Clark's goal of reaching practice information from any location, and we hope that this will add convenience to her practice operations."
