CARLSBAD, CA, January 28, 2013 (Press-News.org) Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing technology education and networking opportunities for the commercial, corporate, government and institutional real estate industry and producer of IBcon, the Smart, Connected, High Performance Intelligent Buildings conference, announced today that industry leaders Larry Melton of U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)/Public Buildings Service, Scott Morey of General Growth Properties (GGP) and Darrell Smith of Microsoft will co-chair the IBcon 2013 Advisory Council. The council, comprised of some of the foremost authorities on the intelligent buildings topic, will help to shape the content and direction of the second annual conference, which will be held June 11-13 in Orlando, FL.

Larry Melton is presently Assistant Commissioner, Office of Facilities Management & Services Programs for GSA/PBS. With an owned and leased portfolio totaling over 360 million square feet, he is responsible for the oversight of the Offices of Smart & Sustainable Buildings and Tenant Services. These offices deliver world class facility operations, energy, environment and sustainability programs, mobile workplace solutions, small projects and reimbursable services, as well manage the entire building occupant experience through amenities and services. Among his current priorities is the implementation of a Smart Buildings strategy designed to improve performance and services across GSA's portfolio for over one million tenants by increasing utilization and operating with greater efficiency.

Darrell Smith is the Director of Facilities & Energy for Microsoft's Real Estate and Facilities division and oversees its 15 million square foot headquarters campus in Redmond, WA. He also manages Microsoft's Global Center of Excellence for Energy and Sustainability, where he is accountable for setting the strategic direction across its overall portfolio.

"I am very excited to be part of this year's event as Co-Chairman of the Advisory Council. This will allow me to help advance smart building adoption and foster collaboration with the best and the brightest companies, vendors and thought leaders in industry," said Smith. Scott Morey as CIO/CTO for GGP, a fully integrated, self-managed and self-administered real estate investment trust focused on owning, managing, leasing, and redeveloping regional malls throughout the United States and Brazil, is responsible for streamlining the organization's operating model. He brings more than two decades of global real estate, technology and operational experience including managing multi-billion dollar real estate positions across different countries and the integration of various company acquisitions.
