There were eight total venues selected from over 200 eligible sites throughout the state. The winners of these awards are based on online reviews from actual clients.

One reviewer on the TheKnot.com commented after her reception saying, "We had an amazing experience working with Emily Lemke to plan our reception! She was very helpful and answered all of our questions as quickly as possible. She always made us feel welcome and important. Emily Lemke has been the Catering Sales Manager for the last four and a half years at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel & hotelVetro. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship. During her schooling, she interned at Summer of the Arts & the Englert Theatre. Shortly after graduating, she started working at the hotel. In 2011, she earned the "Sales Excellence" award in recognition of her outstanding achievements planning weddings & other events. In 2012, she earned her certification as an official "Wedding & Event Planner" from the Wedding Planning Institute.
