Select Registry Gives Away 'Vacation Of A Lifetime' at Leading Inns

Select Registry Distinguished Inns announced the grand-prize winners of its 2012 Vacation Of A Lifetime promotion this week at the association's annual conference in Las Vegas.

2013-01-31
LAS VEGAS, NV, January 31, 2013 (Press-News.org) Select Registry Distinguished Inns announced the grand-prize winners of its 2012 Vacation Of A Lifetime promotion this week at the association's annual conference in Las Vegas.

The winners, selected from 48,680 entries, are Warren & Janet Hankammer of Bedford, Texas, a suburb in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Their prize: a year of free nights at 330 Select Registry inns, B&Bs and small boutique hotels across the United States and Canada, redeemable through Dec. 31, 2013.

"It's a dream vacation - an opportunity to stay at leading inns located in top destinations in 40 states and provinces from coast to coast," says Phil Jenkins, interim director at Select Registry. "The Hankammers can visit as many of our properties as they like. Wherever they go, they'll enjoy the best of the best."

Mr. Hankammer is an engineer with Red Ball Oxygen, an independent welding and industrial gas supplier with locations in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Mrs. Hankammer is an English teacher at KEYS Learning Center in neighboring Euless, Texas. They have been married for 35 years and have a daughter, Micah, who lives with her husband in Dallas.

The winning couple's initial plans call for weekend trips to Select Registry's Texas inns in Greater Dallas, San Antonio and Austin as well as longer trips to member properties in Napa Valley, Calif.; Charleston, S.C.; and Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M. They learned of the Vacation Of A Lifetime contest last summer while visiting a Select Registry inn in Charleston.

"When we realized that two of our other favorite places to stay (John Rutledge House Inn, Charleston, and Isaiah Jones Homestead, Cape Cod, Mass.) are both members of Select Registry, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to enter, although we never thought we'd win," Mrs. Hankammer says.

"We like the unique atmosphere of inns and B&Bs, and we meet such interesting people from different states and even different countries," she continues. "This prize gives us a chance to go to places we might not have visited this year. No doubt we'll end up taking more long weekend trips than usual. Based on past experience at Select Registry inns, we look forward to gracious hospitality and delicious breakfasts."

Of the 20,000 inns and B&Bs in North America, only 330 have qualified for the Select Registry designation. Lodgings must pass rigorous, unannounced inspections first to gain and then to maintain their membership. "The goal is to give guests confidence that when they check into a Select Registry inn, they know they're in for an exceptional experience," Mr. Jenkins explains.

Select Registry launches its 2013 Vacation Of A Lifetime next month.
