RANCHO SANTA FE, CA, February 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Grauer School announced today the appointment of Grauer School Alumna Sara Hunt as Technology Specialist to The Grauer School staff. Ms. Hunt, a 2012 graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA, with a BFA in Creative Writing (magna cum laude, with minors in Women's and GLBT Studies), graduated from The Grauer School in 2008 as a National Honors Society Member and three-time Presidential Gold Award for Academics (3.75+ GPA) Recipient. Ms. Hunt honed her teaching skills as a Writing Tutor at the Chapman Univeristy Center for Academic Success, where she mentored students on their writing capabilities. She is the first Grauer School graduate to be hired to a full-time position at the school. Her responsibilites include oversight of the newsletter, campus blogs, email communications and maintenance of the computer lab.
Ms. Hunt remarks, "For me, it's nice to come full circle---I was a student at Grauer School who was encouraged by the Head of School, Dr. Stuart Grauer, to build relationships with teachers on an intimate basis and to now have an opportunity to mentor students who are passing though Grauer School with the same passion for learning that was instilled in me. The Grauer School taught me to integrate with faculty and to bridge the gap between students and teachers. This encouraged me to pursue a position at Grauer, which made the transition from student to educator very easy. I had the opportunity to talk to other students, both at Grauer and during my tutoring and mentoring opportunities at Chapman University and shared my knowledge about what it meant to me to be a Grauer School graduate. It was inspiring to me to know that I could use my experiences having a close student-teacher relationship to elevate their inspiration for learning, and it encouraged me to continue this tradition."
Ms. Hunt is a resident of Encinitas and devotes her personal time to community service. She is a volunteer advocate for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, where she found two of her adopted pets, a cat, Adrianna and dog, Prancer. They join her cat, Westley, adopted from The Rescue House, and two horses, Prophecy and Luke.
The Grauer School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a member of the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and is the only school in the region to be honored as a designated UNESCO school. The school serves as a successful educational model for hundreds of private schools around the world through the Coalition of Small Preparatory Schools (CSPS) established by Founding Head, Dr. Stuart Grauer.
