TORONTO, ON, February 07, 2013 (Press-News.org) Toronto-born actor RJ Parrish will guest star in an episode of the new HBO show, Transporter: The Series, in an episode called 'City of Love', slated to air February 22 at 9pm on HBO Canada.
In the episode, Parrish plays the role of gang leader, Gassam, a 'bad boy' who will stop at nothing to avenge the killing of his brother. Meanwhile, the protagonist, Frank, having realized that the package he is carrying is a bomb intended for use in a terrorist attack on Paris, is rushing to stop Gassam, enlisting the help of Gassam's sister who also wants to prevent her brother from carrying out an irrevocable and disastrous act of terrorism, using her connections with the French secret service to protect him.
Parrish's edgy look helps his portrayal of tough guy roles such as Gassam. One of his earliest successes was in a CBC made-for-TV movie, Diverted, in 2009 where he played the role of Ahmed, an innocent young passenger traveling to the US who becomes stereotyped as a terrorist following the devastating events of 9/11. While involved in this role, Parrish had the opportunity to hear some of the personal stories of the people of Gander, Newfoundland who played host to many stranded travelers in the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks. "I use my personal life experiences as the launching pad for my creative acting," says Parrish.
Parrish has also had the opportunity to work with actor David Suchet whom he credits with giving him a love for Shakespeare and stage acting. True to his 'bad guy' persona, Parrish has captivated audiences all over North America with his portrayal of Tybalt, Juliet's cousin in Romeo and Juliet. He has played this role many times for different theater companies, including performances at the prestigious Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, he was described in the media as "a physically scary warrior, ever ready to crush the enemy".
Unlike his 'bad guy' stage persona, RJ Parrish is a calm, down-to-earth actor whose success can be attributed to his determination and discipline. To learn more or to contact RJ, visit http://www.rjparrish.com.
