International Society of Appraisers Announces 2013 Winter and Spring Education Schedule

7 courses are scheduled for March, April & June including: the Core Course in Appraisal Studies, Requalification Course, the 7 & 15 hour Personal Property USPAP Course, Asian Art Japanese Prints and Paintings and Screens.

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL, February 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) CORE COURSE IN APPRAISAL STUDIES - March 4-10, 2013 (Naperville, IL) and June 3-9, 2013 (Toronto, ON). COURSE INSTRUCTORS: Leon Castner, PhD, ISA CAPP, Kathryn Minard, ISA CAPP, Joyce Newman, ISA CAPP. COURSE INFORMATION : This is the "original" complete appraisal methodology course for personal property appraising. Its thorough scope includes appraisal objectives, intended uses, market identification and analysis, research methods and skills, ethics and professional conduct, and a detailed presentation of report formats and checklists. This course sets the standards that others imitate.

REQUALIFICATION COURSE - April 16-17, 2013 (Chicago, IL) COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Leon Castner, PhD, ISA CAPP. COURSE INFORMATION: A review and update of ISA's Appraisal Standards covering significant recent changes including those in the ISA Core Course Manual, the IRS, and the insurance industry. The class is a requirement for re-qualification and provides current guidelines, checklists, and forms helpful for every member. No exam is given and students are dismissed at the end of the second day. Course materials need to be purchased and must be brought to the class.

15-HOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY USPAP COURSE - March 11-12, 2013 (Naperville, IL) COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Sandra Tropper, ASA. COURSE INFORMATION: The 15-hour Personal Property Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) material is designed to aid appraisers in all areas of appraisal practice seeking competency in the USPAP. This course is intended to fulfill the USPAP requirement for credentialed membership levels within professional personal property appraisal organizations and will be taught by an active Personal Property Appraiser. Course materials need to be purchased and must be brought to the class.

7 HOUR Personal Property USPAP COURSE - April 11, 2013 (Chicago, IL). COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Gayle Skluzacek. This is the required 7 hour update for personal property appraisers seeking to fulfill the 2 year requalification process. This class covers the 2012-2013 version of USPAP. The class does not include an exam. Students must have previously attended the 15 hour National USPAP class. Course materials need to be purchased and must be brought to the class.

ASIAN ART I: JAPANESE PRINTS - June 24-26, 2013 COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Daphne Rosenzweig, Ph.D., ISA CAPP. COURSE INFORMATION: This course by Daphne Rosenzweig, Ph.D., ISA CAPP is presented exclusively by ISA. Gives students a background of history, artists, periods and styles that appraisers/dealers/collectors must know to analyze and value Japanese prints. Students must do pre-course reading and data collection at home prior to coming to the course, bringing their completed work with them. The course then provides a two-day workshop with formal instruction plus a "hands on" connoisseurship session with prints, followed by a full day of tours with the Asian Art II students.


ASIAN ART II: ASIAN SCREENS AND PAINTINGS - June 26-28, 2013 COURSE INSTRUCTOR: Daphne Rosenzweig, Ph.D., ISA CAPP. COURSE INFORMATION: This course by Daphne Rosenzweig, Ph.D., ISA CAPP is presented exclusively by ISA. This class will be an examination of various forms of screens and paintings in Asian art, including Tibetan, Chinese, Korean and Japanese examples. This will be a guide to description information, what to ask the client, the effect of condition problems, where to search for artist and value information and other aspects of connoisseurship and appraisal in this difficult field. The first day of class will be a tour day with the students from the Asian Art I course.
