MIAMI, FL, February 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Miami Arts & Entertainment Council (MAEC) invites talented Miami artists, art students, up-and-coming artists and art aficionados to participate in its third annual art competition, "Paint Me Miami."
"Paint Me Miami" is an open competition where all artists working in two-dimensional painting media are eligible to enter provided they meet the rules. To conform to the spirit of the awards, all work must be original and completed within the last two years and must not have won any previous prize or award in any other art competition. The subject must be inspired by an identifiable scene within the City of Miami boundaries (see map on http://www.paintmemiami.com). The size of paintings must be no larger than 30"×40"; oil, pastel, acrylics and water color work is acceptable. The entry fee is $20 and a maximum of three entries per artist is permitted. The deadline for submission is April 15, 2013.
"The Miami Arts & Entertainment Council is proud to continue promoting arts and culture as a pivotal ingredient in Miami's growth as a dynamic international city that is a showcase for emerging artists as well as masters," added Mercedes Cisneros, chair of MAEC.
Distinguished jurors of "Paint Me Miami" consist of master painters, Julio Larraz, Cesar Santos and FIU professor David Chang. The first prize winner will receive $2,500 and an award certificate; the second prize winner will receive $1,000 and an award certificate; the third prize winner will receive $500 and an award certificate. Ten runner-up finalists will receive award certificates. There is also a separate category for participants under the age of 18 (no entry fee required). The winner in this category will receive a $500 gift certificate and an award certificate.
