Philanthropist Avram Freedberg Applauds Donna Karan's Charity Efforts

Avram Freedberg encourages celebrities to continue their philanthropic endeavors and highlights the charitable activities of his company.

2013-02-28
PHILADELPHIA, PA, February 28, 2013 (Press-News.org) Avram Freedberg, an avid philanthropist, recently responded to an article posted by Mashable detailing the latest charity efforts of Donna Karan. The fashion icon is selling bracelets on Twitter to raise money to benefit Haiti, according to the report. While she is not handling the actual execution of the event, as she has admitted to not using Twitter regularly, she is donating her time and talent to a cause that she believes is important. Freedberg encourages other public figures, companies, and individuals to follow in Karan's footsteps by getting involved in philanthropic endeavors.

The article explains: "Donna Kara kicked off an innovative e-commerce campaign Wednesday during New York Fashion Week, selling a bracelet benefitting Haiti exclusively on Twitter. The irony is the fashion designer is largely unfamiliar with the platform." But despite this fact, Freedberg calls attention to Karan's willingness to partner with Amex to create a working charitable event. This flexibility and willingness to be part of an innovative philanthropic endeavor is something that Freedberg admires, and he encourages other individuals to follow Karan's example.

The revolutionary new Twitter-based commerce system works as follows: users can connect their Twitter accounts to their credit cards using Amex Sync. Once connected, they can tweet "#BuyUrbanZenBracelet" and then confirm their purchase. If confirmation is completed within 15 minutes, the purchase is made and the bracelet is ordered. The proceeds that are collected from the sale of these bracelets, which are priced at $80 each, will be donated to Urban Zen Foundation.

"It is always good to see well-known people giving back," comments Avram Freedberg. "We donated 10,000 Hearts of Steel bracelets to our National Collector's Mint customers to support the Flight 93 memorial and ultimately ended up donating $100,000 to the cause as a result. We have given many other items to charity auctions, as well, including tickets to Broadway and off-Broadway shows, collectibles, and even a stay in Saratoga Springs during racing season."

Freedberg encourages other business owners to promote charitable giving by also incorporating this important activity into their business models. Additionally, he encourages employees of companies that are involved in philanthropic efforts to participate in the initiatives that they support. Through such work, Freedberg knows that individuals and corporations can make a major, positive difference in today's world.
