The Leadership Academy was established in 2008 to identify emerging Realtor leaders ready to get involved, make a difference and enhance their leadership skills. "We are very excited about this year's program and its participants," says 2013 Leadership Academy Committee Chairman Mark Palace, Owner/Broker of Palace Properties International in Indian Harbor Beach, Fla. "My committee did a wonderful job of interviewing and selecting our 14 participants; we're looking forward to a great class this year!"

Members of the Leadership Academy will participate in classroom activities, group and independent study sessions, team-building and goal-setting exercises, leadership techniques and communication skills enhancement. In addition, they will collectively work on their class project designed to promote greater awareness of the need for organ donation.

Vallone's volunteer activities include service as My Florida Regional MLS Education Committee Chair, Audit Committee member and a 2012 director. In addition, she has served on several Sarasota Association of Realtors committees including Grievance, Professional Standards, Professional Development, Tech Fair, and Realtor-Attorney Joint Committee as well as acting as the 2013 Secretary. Vallone has been active in fundraising for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and cancer awareness, and she is a strong supporter of the Humane Society of Sarasota County, assisting in the concession service at its annual golf benefit.

As part of the Florida Realtors Leadership Academy, Vallone states, "I will continue to work on the committees I currently serve on and hope to expand to other committees in an effort to better understand their role in our organization. This year I will serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Sarasota Association of Realtors. I am looking forward to my roles as I progress through Executive Committee over the next few years. I hope to serve on additional committees with My Florida Regional MLS this year. Additionally, on a state level, I hope to be able to do the same."
