WEST CHESTER, PA, October 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced a new large angle grinder in the Metabo Metal Masters series. The W24-180 features more power and the longest run time of any grinder in its class. Designed for cutting and grinding metal, this new angle grinder allows users to tackle large jobs safely and efficiently.
With a 7" wheel, the W24-180 delivers 124 inch-lbs of torque and a no-load speed of 8,500 rpm. The tool also features a long-lasting 15 A motor with 2,400 W of power and 4.5 hp.
The W24-180 features a vibration dampening rear handle that twists into three different positions for comfort during cutting, while reducing user fatigue. A three-position anti-vibration side handle allows users to turn the tool 90° to cut vertically, while still having a firm grasp on the grinder.
The tool incorporates Metabo's improved, simplified on/off switch function with a safety lock-out switch, a burst-proof guard with seven positions and a spindle lock.
The newly designed diagonal fan pulls more air across the motor for cooler operation. A double winding protection grid that deflects harmful airborne debris away from armature windings as well as auto-stop 'COLD' carbon brushes increase the tool's service life. In addition, the W24-180 features an easy-to-use toolless wheel guard as well as an optimized cooling system with vent openings that are less susceptible to blockage and allow for cooler operation, extending tool life.
