BLOOMINGTON, IL, March 10, 2013 (Press-News.org) The devastating earthquake that left Haiti in a state of emergency may have occurred three years ago, but the citizens are still in desperate need of help. 78% Of Haitians earn less than the equivalent of $2(US) per day and cannot afford the basic necessities that many of us take for granted like proper medical and dental care. Utica's Trinity Lutheran Church is doing something about the need in Haiti.
A group of 25 members from the church will be partnering with the North East Haiti Lutheran Mission (NEHLM) Society for a Mission Trip from March 17th-March 25th. They will be working to provide free medical and dental clinics along with medical supplies alongside volunteers and health professionals. In the past Trinity Lutheran has served on local mission trips and in Brazil.
The group has been using fundraising company Dibbee and is nearing the end of their campaign. They have raised over $2,000 through their online campaign and have raised additional funds through their in-person efforts thanks to the support of their church and community.
The costs associated with the trip and providing the medical and dental care were significant, but they have seen tremendous support from local supporters as well as supporters from across the country on the internet. The group leaves in a week and is still in need of help and prayers. You can view Trinity Lutheran Church's online cause and contribute here: https://dibbee.com/causeOverview.htm?causeId=2
Thank you to all of those who are praying for and who have helped support this great cause and mission.
