BROOKLYN, NY, March 13, 2013
When Brazilian born designer Fabio Costa left Project Runway (Season 10), he started to experiment with shapes, form, and clothing construction. He partnered with his best friend Rebecca to discover a deep desire to make clothing that felt natural and is a departure from the constraints of gender and impersonality. This led them to create NotEqual, a label based on the Golden Ratio. By applying these proportions to clothing construction they have been creating genderless pieces that are pleasing, harmonious, and appealing.Fabio says in regard to this new venture, "Where before there was a lot of intention, now it's clear that all paths have lead me to this amazing road. All the gems that I've collected are the shining lights along the way."
Partner Rebecca Diele studied at Central Saint Martin, London and holds two bachelor degrees: Fashion Design and Textile Production and Design, both from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. Rebecca is equally elated when asked about the future, "Finally, I've come to an exciting point in my creative life where everything makes sense; Fabio and I, NotEqual, expression. The success of our Kickstarter campaign, will be a shift from 3rd to 4th gear."
The Not Equal Fall/Winter 2013 line is based on these principles, and currently prototypes for future collections are in production.
Fabio Costa and Rebecca Diele have launched a Kickstarter campaign to support their new line, which will also guarantee NotEqual it's first New York runway this September.

About NotEqual
NotEqual explores creative innovation through fashion. Our artisanal and classical garments challenge traditional tailoring; each piece is individually draped and detailed to bring out the unique and the beautiful. NotEqual channels the sublime through organic creations; our clothing is unconventional. We defy principles of calculation and measurement by constructing pieces that are truly brought to life only when the fabric meets the skin. We challenge common concepts of identity through questioning gender, culture, and modernity. Our mission is to encourage authentic expression through fashion. http://www.notequal.co/
