All Essentials Covered Under Legal & General's New Home Insurance Product

Legal & General Home Insurance launch new household cover in response to customer calls for choice.

SURREY, ENGLAND, October 26, 2010 (Press-News.org) Legal & General has announced the launch of Essentials, new household insurance cover designed to provide all the core elements of home insurance. The new product was designed following consumer research conducted by Legal & General which showed that, more than ever, consumers understand their options when buying insurance and want to select the appropriate level of cover for their needs.

Home Insurance Essentials is designed to make very good quality insurance cover more easily affordable and, alongside Legal & General's Extra product, provides customers with a wider degree of choice regarding the cover they are able to arrange.

Customers buying directly online or over the phone can purchase buildings and contents insurance from Legal & General and select the Essentials policy, or the more comprehensive Extra policy.

The Essentials/Extra offering is designed to give customers a choice by providing them two distinct levels of cover, with Essentials providing an option for younger customers with less complex insurance requirements, such as young, singles, couples and young families.

And for those who have built up their homes and possessions, Legal & General's Extra product provides more comprehensive cover, including items such as patio furniture and freezer contents.

For both products, Legal & General estimates the sum insured based on the details given by the customer during the application process, to help customers avoid paying for insurance they don't need.

Essentials and Extra are both part of a broader product offering from Legal & General's general insurance business. Customers who require additional cover can also purchase add-on cover such as personal possessions and accidental damage cover.

At the same time, Legal & General has also enhanced the online application process, to make it even quicker and simpler for customers to get a quote and arrange cover suitable for their requirements.
