TITUS Supports Latest Version of UK Government Protective Marking Standard

TITUS continues to assist UK government customers, including UK Councils and Police Forces, by supporting the latest version of the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS), being updated this year.

2013-03-15
OTTAWA, ON, CANADA, March 15, 2013 (Press-News.org) TITUS, the leading provider of enterprise data security and governance solutions, continues to assist UK government customers, including UK Councils and Police Forces, by supporting the latest version of the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS), being updated this year. UK Government customers can be assured that TITUS Classification solutions will continue to support requirements to comply with the latest version of the GPMS.

In the United Kingdom, government agencies and public sector organizations need to comply with Her Majesty's Government (HMG) Security Policy Framework to protect its assets. To comply with this requirement, departments and agencies must adopt policies in accordance with the Government Protective Marking System. The system is designed to help staff determine and indicate to others the levels of protection required to help prevent the compromise of information via protective markings to emails and documents.

Compliance with GPMS requires that protective markings are applied by the user to email and documents to control distribution in line with HMG Security Policy Framework. TITUS Message Classification provides GPMS compliance for every email upon creation, before emails can be sent, saved or printed. In addition, TITUS Classification tools apply the required protective markings to email and documents.

TITUS can help make the transition to the updated GPMS scheme seamless by providing:
• Full "out-of-the-box" support in TITUS Message Classification and TITUS Classification for Microsoft Office for the new standard
• Support for mapping of old markings to the new set of markings
• The ability to easily customize classifications and markings according to your specific compliance requirements
• Recommended product configurations to ensure compliance

"TITUS solutions have been deployed to numerous UK Councils, and to more than 20 police forces throughout the United Kingdom. This has given us a great deal of experience in helping organizations comply with the GPMS standard," said Stephane Charbonneau, Chief Technology Officer with TITUS. "We will continue to work closely with these customers, and support both new and older version of GPMS in order to ensure that organizations are fully able to comply with this standard both now and in the future."
