Cherub Improv Welcomes Gina Keatley to its Team

The Non-Profit Appoints Award-Winning Dietician As Newest Board Member

NEW YORK, NY, March 17, 2013 (Press-News.org) Cherub Improv, the Manhattan- based non-profit organization that provides free improvised comedy performances and educational workshops to people in the greater New York City area most in need of laughter, announces that culinary author and award-wining dietician, Gina Keatley, has joined its team as its newest board member.

No stranger to charity work, Keatley was named a 2011 CNN Hero and L'Oreal Woman of Worth for her philanthropic work. Founder of Keatley Medical Nutrition Therapy, Keatley is an American Diabetes Ambassador known for her food-focused appearances and her campaign for the use of fresh foods in low-income areas. Keatley has been appointed to the Cherub Improv board to focus on marketing efforts.

"I am very excited to be a part of the Cherub Improv team. The organization is already having a huge, positive impact on individuals with a range of physical and mental health issues. I look forward to helping expand the organization's services to promote better health and personal growth through drama (and comedy) therapy," says Keatley.

Cherub Improv's performances deliver comedy to places where residents often do not have the opportunity to attend off-site cultural events. Through ongoing partnerships with hospitals, youth development groups, retirement communities, and cancer support organizations, Cherub Improv's volunteers perform interactive comedy shows (and lead educational workshops) for audiences including veterans, senior citizens, runaway teens, hospital patients, and adults and children living with cancer. Cherub Improv was founded in 2007 by attorney Jonathan Evan Goldberg, doctor Steve Van Ooteghem, and media producer Joy Copeland Purver. Since that time, over 150 volunteer performers have provided over 600 free improv comedy events for individuals and communities in need of laughter and inspiration.
