So What REALLY Happens on That First Visit

No guesswork here. After you are acquainted with our office, digital photographs and a complimentary panoramic x-ray will be taken if indicated. The doctor will conduct a thorough clinical orthodontic examination (at no charge) and review his findings.

The purpose of the initial examination is to discover what sort of problem (if any) is present. When is the proper time to begin treatment, what type of treatment is indicated and how long will treatment take? If orthodontic treatment is indicated at this time, an appointment for additional Diagnostic Records is scheduled.

If time allows, these diagnostic records can be taken at the initial visit. Separators (spacers) must be placed between the molars to make room for the back-braces. It usually takes one to two weeks for adequate space to open up before the braces can be placed. If the spacers should fall out, call the office a few days before the braces are to be placed to have them reinserted.
