42nd Street Workshop at the Katonah Art Center Open House.

2013-03-20
KATONAH, NY, March 20, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Katonah Art Center is holding an Open House March 24, from 12pm-3pm. The Open House is a great way to try out classes at the KAC for free. A special addition to this Open House will be a 42nd Street dance workshop, given by Jeri Kansas, a star of the original Broadway production, at 2:00 PM. The workshop is for students of all ages.

Ms. Kansas not only starred in 42nd Street, but she has many other major credits as well. She began her career at 19 dancing with the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes. She went on to perform in the original production of Sugar Babies with Anne Miller and Mickey Rooney, as well as productions of Showboat, Chicago, and The Music Man.

"We're so excited to have this workshop," says Loren Anderson, the founder and director of the Katonah Art Center. "We feel very lucky to have Jeri as one of our instructors. Her Broadway background is really incredible, and she has some great stories to tell."

This spring, Jeri Kansas will be teaching jazz, tap, and lyrical classes at the Katonah Art Center.

"All of our instructors have a wealth of experience in their fields," adds Loren Anderson. "They are very talented and excellent teachers, and I feel that knowledge of how the art and dance world works really adds to their strength. Jeri is a great example of that. "

The Open House will also include painting, drawing, yoga, Tai Chi, Ballet, Hip-hop, and Tap.

The Katonah Art Center is located at 131 Bedford Road, Katonah, New York. For more information about the Katonah Art Center's open house, or dance and art classes, call 914 232-4843 or visit the KAC website at http://www.katonahartcenter.com.
