WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, March 21, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County has expanded its board of public- and private-sector leaders with a newly created board liaison position. The goal of the position is to facilitate communication between EDC-VC's board and governmental defense agencies within the region. Dave Sasek, CAPT, CEC, USN, chief staff officer, Naval Base Ventura County will serve as the initial board liaison. Commander Scott Loeschke will serve as an alternate.
The board's approval of the liaison position aligns with the EDC-VC board's top priorities for 2013 of recruiting membership from NBVC and defense industry representatives.
"Naval Base Ventura County is one of the country's busiest and most efficient military bases, and it greatly impacts our county's economic well-being. Having the Base represented on our board provides us with full representation of industry sectors," said Bruce Stenslie, president and CEO of EDC-VC. "We welcome Captain Sasek and value his commitment to our board."
In 2010, Sasek assumed duties as chief staff officer of Naval Base Ventura County. Prior to this position, he was the executive officer, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Europe Africa Southwest Asia. His first tour was in 1987 as assistant resident officer in charge of construction, San Francisco Bay Area.
A qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer, he graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He holds a master's degree in civil engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
