Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Let Your Imagination Run Wild at Murakami Versailles in Paris

Murakami Versailles in Paris is sure to be a hit with travellers who enjoy Japanese art.

2010-10-27
PARIS, FRANCE, October 27, 2010 (Press-News.org) Artist Takashi Murakami is inviting Paris hotel guests to enjoy what he has created in an exhibition entitled Murakami Versailles.

He is widely known around the world for his colourful and intriguing artwork, but here the canvas he had to work with was Chateau de Versailles in Paris.

Commenting on the display, which is available to view until December 12th 2010, Murakami described himself as being like the Cheshire Cat, with the castle representing wonderland.

He said: "For a Japanese like me, the Chateau de Versailles is one of the greatest symbols of Western history. It is the emblem of an ambition for elegance, sophistication and art that most of us can only dream of."

In his opinion, this makes the building seem like it is part of a tale about a far away land.

No doubt many art enthusiasts staying in accommodation such as Hotel Des Arts Paris will have had their interest piqued by this fascinating creator, who is well known for mixing high art with more low-brow, commercially-successful concepts.

Tickets to enter the palace at Chateau de Versailles and view the exhibition cost EUR15 (GBP13.30) each, but there are various other combination passes that will allow people to view other parts of the estate or related landmarks.

Opening hours are from 09:00 to 18:30 local time every day except Monday, when the building is closed.

For more information on this event visit the Chateau de Versailles website or contact the venue on +33 01 30 83 78 00.
